Merly Hartnett is a Career Counsellor, Career Development Practitioner and Career Wellbeing Specialist, helping professional women navigate career change, burnout and the often complicated question of “what’s next?”

With more than 15 years’ experience across career development, occupational rehabilitation and career transition, Merly brings a unique perspective to career wellbeing. Her work sits at the intersection of career and wellbeing, recognising that our working lives influence far more than our income or job title, they can shape our energy, confidence, identity, relationships and overall quality of life.

Through her practice, Nurture Ambition, Merly provides personalised career counselling and wellbeing support for women experiencing career uncertainty, burnout, changing priorities, career transitions and the desire for a more sustainable way of working.

She is a HCANZA-accredited Health and Wellness Coach and is completing a Postgraduate Certificate in Career Development & Counselling at QUT. Her professional background in occupational rehabilitation has also given her extensive experience supporting people through workplace challenges, career disruption, injury and return-to-work transitions.

Merly is passionate about challenging the idea that career success has to come at the expense of wellbeing. She believes a successful career isn't simply about reaching the next job title, it’s about creating a working life that works for the person behind the career.

Merly is available for media commentary, guest articles, podcasts, interviews and speaking opportunities on topics including career change, career wellbeing, burnout, sustainable careers, women and work, career transitions, mid-career uncertainty and navigating career change without starting over.
